Cress making time

We were learning about how plants grow and seeds sprout. We  grew cress and sprouted broad beans in class. We watched how water moves through plants by putting  celery coloured.

This is how my cress changed over time!

Fruit Salad Art

We made fruit salad art! It was fun and messy. Our teacher cut up the fruit and when we finished we got to eat the fruit but the people who had lemons like me did not have to eat it. Yum fruit.

Reflecting Snagit Creations

I did a snagit reflection with my sister, Faye, in Room 9. We had to think hard on this. It was really hard to think of ideas. We put our ideas on the page and then we were done.

My Best Quality Blog Comment

We have been learning how to write a quality blog comment. Above this is the screenshot I took of the best comment I thought was good. I wrote it for the Manaiakalani film festival. This is Room 6 @ pt england. I have written a positive comment about their class movie. This is a quality blog comment because it has a greeting, question and punctuation.

Making Our Movie

On a sunny day we made our film festival movie. Our movie is called Kotahitanga. My parts were helping take out the whiteboard, drinking the milk and holding the letter P. My teacher asked people to film. Our class film is cool! We watched our film on the X-treme screen at Sylvia Park and went there on a bus. I had fun doing all of this.

Take 9!

I created a Snagit screencast with my sister, Faye, who is in Room 9.  We worked together to record our ideas about what we liked about our favourite movie from the Film Festival.

Trip to Film Festival

Last Wednesday was a sunny day because we went on a bus to the film festival at Sylvia Park. We were told to sit on red comfy chairs at the movies. Then Mr Burt (Pt. England principal) starting talking. Then this video of a girl talking Maori began the festival. Next Pt. England's first movie came on. Later on our class movie came on and I liked it on the X-treme screen. We watched a lot of other movies too and when our session came to an end we left and we walked to the bus to go back to school.

In the afternoon we were allowed to watch a movie so we could write comments. I watched Manaiakalani Man. My teacher was taking photos of us. I did a Superman pose. Some people were going crazy and dancing to Room 9's movie.

What can we share on blogs?

On a sunny day we made infographic posters with Mrs Grant. We had to think about some ideas to put on the poster. After that we had to use some shapes and put our ideas in the shapes.I use a smiley face and speech bubbles then i used word art. I put a manaiakalani (hook from heaven) on there and added colour, background colour and highlights.

Kawa Of Care!

In Term Two we made a Kawa of care poster with Mrs Grant. We had to choose four photos to put on the poster. The poster was to tell people how we hold our Chromebooks safely.

Poppies for ANZAC

On 25th April 2015, it was the 100th anniversary of ANZAC soldiers landing at Gallipoli.  We learnt lots of things about life and war for the ANZAC soldiers when we visited Auckland Museum in April.  We created poppies, we have written poems and letters about ANZAC and World War 1.

Fractions With Clay

Yesterday we made fraction pizzas and sausages and they were made out of clay. We had to make the clay soft, then we had to make a round pizza and a sausage and we had to cut them in half with our ruler. Also we had to think about the size of the pizza and sausage.

I Want To go there one day!

This is one of the first Digital Learning Objects that we created and it was quite tricky.  I chose somewhere in the world I would like to visit one day.  Then I found an image of it on Google images.  Next, I cut around a photograph of my head using Pixlr so I could put  myself in that place.  Maybe I will travel there in the future in real life.

Ctrl shift screenshot ...

In Room Ten we made a Top Tip poster each. There are lots of key-board shortcuts. Mrs Grant helped us make this poster. My Top Tip is a partial screenshot. This is useful because if you need to save your work that is one of the ways to do it.

Positive Digital Footprint Is My Goal!

1427921397992.2.jpg

Kia ora! My name is Prudence.  I am nine years old and my culture is Cook Island. I am learning in Room 10 at Ruapotaka School in Auckland.  We are a Year 5 class and my teacher is Mrs Buchanan.

I am learning to be Cybersmart when I create digital learning.  My goal is to have a positive digital footprint.  My favourite subject at school is solving maths problems. In maths we are learning to co-operate with others when problem solving. My maths goal is to learn my 9 times table.

My favourite movie is 9 because it is an adventure movie.  When I grow up, I want to be a pop star.
